Organization Topics
Last updated: March 2, 2026
Organization Topics are a tool used to structure content on the Tigerhall platform. You will find this in the Admin Portal under Create.
Please refer to this document for a detailed explanation of how Topics impact the visibility of content across the platform.
What are topics and how do I use them?
Topics are a tool used to structure content on Tigerhall. Every content created on Tigerhall Admin Portal needs to have a topic/subtopic tag to it. This helps users identify and access content easily.
How do I create Topics?
To create a topic, head to Organization Topics under Create in the Admin Portal:
Click on Create Topic in the top right corner
Add in details such as the Topic Name, an emoji to help users associate with the Topic, and Groups with Access.
Once ready, click Create.
How do I create Subtopics?
Click on the topic/subtopic node under which you wish to create a new subtopic. Click on the “Create Subtopic” icon in the extension you see.
What does Groups with Access do? Can I make a Topic visible only for certain groups?
Any group that you add under “Groups with Access” will be able to view the topic on their homepage. A topic’s visibility restrictions apply to all trails and content within it.
Example: If “CEO Communications” is visible to everyone, but certain content should be restricted to the Leadership group, create a subtopic like “Leadership Knowledge” and tag that content there. This allows for segmented visibility while preserving the overall topic structure, ensuring knowledge is shared securely without compromising confidentiality.
How does the visibility restrictions for subtopics work?
Subtopics inherit their parent topic’s visibility restrictions and only allow restriction removal, not addition.
Example: If Topic A is visible to the Product and Engineering groups, Subtopic A can be visible to either or both, but new groups cannot be added. To include a new group, the parent topic must also be visible to that group, ensuring seamless discoverability.
In what order do Topics appear for end-users?
The way topics appear for end users is impacted by how the admin arranges them in the “Organization Topics” tab under the Admin Portal.
How does re-ordering subtopics work?
You can reorder subtopics using the up and down arrows attached to each subtopic node. Re-arranging this order impacts the order in which subtopics are presented for end users.
How do I delete a Topic/Subtopic?
To delete a topic, click on the topic you would like to delete and click on the delete icon. If this topic has content pieces tagged to it, you must move those pieces into another topic/subtopic before deleting it.
How do I ensure a topic/subtopic is visible to the entire company? What is the group "All Users in the Org?"
This is the default group that is created when a new organization is onboarded onto Tigerhall. If you would like to create a topic that is visible to the entire company, you need to tag that topic to the group “All Users in the Org.”
Can I copy subtopics across different topics?
No, subtopics are meant to be unique to a particular parent topic to maintain the proper hierarchy of the topic's structure.
What is topic level content creator?
Topic-level content creators are groups of users who have access to creating content on a particular topic. This set of users will have access to the content creation pages (Creator Studio, Podcasts, Power Reads, Videos, Experiences, Broadcasts, Trails) but will be limited to seeing and creating content on their topics only.
This is a great tool to decentralize content creation across teams and foster collaboration during the process of content creation.
Please note that if you have access to creating content in topic A, you have both viewing and creation rights in all its subtopics as well.
Can a user belong to multiple groups that each have different topic permissions?
Yes, a user can have various topic permissions based on the groups they belong to.
If I remove a user from a group, is their access to topic level content creation revoked immediately?
Yes, once a user is removed from a group, they won’t be able to create content on the topics they had access to.
During content creation, do topic creators see only their assigned topics, or can they see the topic tree for context?
During content creation, they can see the topic tree for context, but will only be able to select the topics they have access to.
Is there a limit to how many groups can be added per topic for content creation?
We place no limits on the number of groups added to a particular topic for content creation.
